Book Sale on November 1, 2008
Friends of the Almaden Library
San Jose, California

On Friday afternoon, setting up the books and audio-vidual materials for sale in the Community Room, it was evident that we had many more items for sale than for many prior sales. We are lucky in that people seem to donate more things for sale each year. That makes the selection available for customers better and better as the years pass.

On Saturday morning, we were sad to see that the weather was so poor, gray skies overhead and rain starting even before the sale started. Lo and behold, we soon learned just how lucky we were that it was raining because all of the outdoor sports activities were cancelled for that day, and many of the people who would have been busy with sports were free to come to the book sale... and come they did! The room was quite crowded most of the day, and we hit a record sale total of $3321.00.

Many thanks to all of the Friends members and teens who helped to get ready for the sale, who helped during the sale, and also helped with the repacking and cleanup. Many thanks to those of you who donated materials to be sold, and also to the Friends members who help regularly with the sorting, placing books in the Lobby Sale Area to be sold, and who box items to be saved for the semi-annual sales.

If you missed this sale, mark on your 2009 calendar to come to our next sale on Saturday, April 18, 2009 between 9 AM and 3 PM.
